Your rights under the Act

Right to access information

A summary of the personal data being processed about you, the processing activities involved, and the identities of others it has been shared with. (Section 11)

Right to correction and erasure

Have inaccurate or misleading data corrected, incomplete data completed, and data erased when it is no longer needed. (Section 12)

Right to grievance redressal

A readily available means of registering a grievance, with a response within the prescribed period. (Section 13)

Right to nominate

Nominate another individual to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated. (Section 14)

Your duties

The Act also places duties on you: do not impersonate another person, do not suppress material information, do not register a false or frivolous grievance, and furnish only verifiably authentic information. (Section 15)
