How we will use your information
Before you register for a Family ID, please read what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your name, date of birth and gender
- Your residential address
- A government identifier used only to verify who you are
- Details of other members of your household
- Your mobile number and email address, if you give them
What we use it for
We use this information to create and maintain your Family ID, to work out which State schemes your household is eligible for, and to send you updates about your applications.
Your rights under the Act
You may ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed, ask us to correct or complete anything that is wrong, ask us to erase data we no longer need, and nominate someone to act for you.
Withdrawing consent
Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time from the citizen portal. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. Some services may stop working if you withdraw.
Grievance
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may register a grievance with our Data Protection Officer. We will respond within 90 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
