SL-03Wording, layout, and the six checks that decide whether the choice on offer is a real one. Every setting here maps to a word in Section 6 — free, specific, informed, unambiguous — rather than to a style preference.
All six checks pass
Version v3.1 published 16 Jul 2026. Consent records store the version they were given under, so changing the banner never rewrites history.

Wording
Plain language, both languages. The Eighth Schedule list is what makes this an obligation rather than a courtesy.
51 words. The last sentence — that refusing does not affect the service — is the one people actually need to read, so it should not be the one that gets cut.
Compliance checks
Each maps to a specific requirement. Publishing is blocked while any fails.
A reject-all control existsS.6Consent must be free. If the only way past the banner is to accept, the choice is not free — it is a toll.
Accept and reject are equally prominentS.6A styled Accept beside a grey Reject is a nudge, and a nudge is not unambiguous agreement. This is the most common dark pattern and the easiest to spot.
Categories can be chosen individuallyS.6Consent must be specific. Bundling analytics with advertising means neither was specifically agreed.
Available in Hindi as well as EnglishR.3Consent must be informed, which means in a language the person reads. More than half of respondents here answer in Hindi.
Consent is re-asked within a yearS.6Indefinite consent drifts away from what the person actually agreed to. Six months is the setting here.
The page is not held hostageS.6A modal that cannot be dismissed without accepting makes the service conditional on consent, which Section 6(3) does not permit for processing that is not necessary.
